Head Over Heels
Head Over Heels will invites artists to contribute to a show that will investigate the schism between routine and the breaking of that routine which occurs in moments of high tension, emotion, or panic. With free time no longer completely free, so-called leisure has become another work period. Not only do we have to cope, appease, and please during our day-jobs we must also manage ourselves carefully during our down times. Stay fit, stay healthy, mother yourself emotionally, keep progressing in your career.
This constant self-management takes a toll, and in the moments when the fog of sensibleness clears a momentary wildness can take over. Head Over Heels will invite artists to explore both sides of this spectrum through sculptures, installations, drawings, paintings, and text.

Space Space gallery presents a group show curated by Ella Krivanek at the OnCurating project space in Zurich.
Katherine Botten (b. 1990, Adelaide, Australia) completed her BFA in Sculpture & Spatial Practice at the Victorian College of the Art (University of Melbourne).
Aurelia Guo (b. Harbin, China) is a writer and researcher based in London. She is the author of 2016 (After Hours Ltd), HOME INTRUDER EDITION (Publishing-House.me) and a forthcoming pamphlet through Gauss PDF.
Ceylan Öztrük is an artist based in Zürich. She opens up accepted forms of knowledge-information by creating new questions rather than focusing on finding the answer. She employs interventions in her practice as a methodology with which she tries to transform existing situations and frameworks.
Stefanie Knobel (b. 1983) is an artist working between choreography, writing, performance and installation. She is interested in a critical practice that uses choreography not as an instance of aesthetic ideology but as an instrument that slows down ideological judgment.
Spencer Lai (b. 1991, Sarawak, Malaysia) lives and works in Melbourne, Australia. Spencer is represented by Fort Delta Gallery. Co-founder and facilitator of Monica’s Gallery.
Carla Milentis (b. 1994, Melbourne, Australia) completed her Bachelor of Fine Art, majoring in Sculpture and Spatial Practice at the Victorian College of the Arts.
Ella Krivanek is a curator from Melbourne, Australia. In 2014 she founded the gallery Space Space in a warehouse in southwestern Tokyo. Her curatorial practise focusses on experimental, immersive exhibitions that impart to the visitor an experience of common feelings of everyday life distilled and synthesised so that they can be felt and understood in different ways. In 2015 Space Space became was unmoored from a physical site, and began to be treated as a curatorial project. Moving between mainly off-site spaces such as petrol stations, bathhouses, and freeways, Space Space also shifts across continents. Through 2016-2017 Krivanek managed cross-cultural projects involving sculpture and installation artists in Johannesburg, and Melbourne. These connect artists from different backgrounds in unexpected combinations, which elicit original aesthetic experiences and new readings of an artists’ practise.

Head Over Heels zeigt Künstler_innen, die das Schisma zwischen Routine und dem Bruch von Routine untersuchen. Dies zeigt sich in Momenten hoher Spannung, Emotion oder Panik. Mit der nicht mehr ganz so freien Freizeit ist die Zeit der Erholung zu einer weiteren Arbeitsphase geworden. Wie die Arbeitszeit muss die Freizeit geplant, bewältigt und befriedigt werden. Fit bleiben, gesund bleiben, sich emotional nähren, ausgerichtet um in der Karriere Fortschritte zu erzielen … Dieses konstante Selbstmanagement fordert seinen Tribut und in den Momenten, in denen der Nebel des Vernünftigseins sich auflöst, kann zeitweise das Wilde die Oberhand gewinnen. Head Over Heels lädt Künstler_innen ein, beide Seiten dieses Spektrums durch Skulpturen, Installationen, Zeichnungen, Gemälde und Texte zu erforschen.

Katherine Botten (geb. 1990, Adelaide, Australien) absolvierte ihren BFA in Skulptur & Raumpraxis am Victorian College of the Art (University of Melbourne).
Aurelia Guo (geb. Harbin, China) ist Schriftstellerin und Forscherin mit Sitz in London. Sie ist Autorin von 2016 (After Hours Ltd.), HOME INTRUDER EDITION (Publishing-House.me) und einer demnächst erscheinenden Pamphlet über Gauss PDF.
Ceylan Öztrük ist eine in Zürich lebende Künstlerin. Sie öffnet etablierte Formen der Wissensinformation, indem sie neue Fragen aufwirft, anstatt sich darauf zu konzentrieren, die Antwort zu finden. Sie setzt Interventionen in ihrer Praxis als Methodik ein, mit der sie versucht, bestehende Situationen und Rahmenbedingungen zu transformieren.
Stefanie Knobel (*1983) ist eine Künstlerin, die zwischen Choreographie, Schreiben, Performance und Installation arbeitet. Sie interessiert sich für eine kritische Praxis, die Choreographie nicht als ästhetische Ideologie sondern als Instrument verwendet, das ideologisches Urteilen verlangsamt.
Spencer Lai (geb. 1991, Sarawak, Malaysia) lebt und arbeitet in Melbourne, Australien. Spencer wird durch die Fort Delta Gallery vertreten. Mitbegründer und Moderator von Monica’s Gallery.
Carla Milentis (*1994, Melbourne, Australien) absolvierte ihren Bachelor of Fine Art mit dem Schwerpunkt Skulptur und Raumpraxis am Victorian College of the Arts.
Ella Krivanek ist Kuratorin aus Melbourne, Australien. Im Jahr 2014 gründete sie die Gallery Space Space in einem Lagerhaus im Südwesten Tokios. Ihre kuratorische Praxis konzentriert sich auf experimentelle, immersive Ausstellungen, die dem Besucher eine Erfahrung von Gemeinschaft im täglichen Leben vermitteln. Im Jahr 2015 ließ Space Space seinen physischen Raum hinter sich und wurde ein kuratorisches Projekt. Der Space Space bewegt sich in Off-Spaces wie Tankstellen, Badehäusern und Autobahnen und überwindet auch Kontinente. Zwischen 2016 und 2017 leitete Krivanek interkulturelle Projekte mit Skulptur- und Installationskünstlern aus Johannesburg und Melbourne. Diese verknüpften Künstler_innen unterschiedlicher Herkunft in unerwarteten Kombinationen, die originelle ästhetische Erfahrungen und neue Lesarten einer Künstlerpraxis hervorrufen.
