Contemporary Curating
The English-speaking, internationally active Postgraduate Programme in Curating (CAS/MAS) shows the projects of its seven graduates in video presentations, text and images. This year’s diploma show is dedicated to the multi-part project Choreographing the Public, which comprises various exhibitions and event formats and was initiated together with the international curator Sergio Edelsztein.
The curatorial project Choreographing the Public is a co-curated and multi-formatted program featuring exhibitions, performances, interventions, and screenings taking place from October 2019 to June 2020 at the non-profit and independent art space, the OnCurating Project Space, as well as at other collaborating venues in Zurich. From the idea of impulse and movement taking place in the exhibition space, Choreographing the Public seeks to reconfigure the roles of the creator and the audience. Receding from the traditional experience of art, the curatorial project sheds light on the virtues of participation in generating new and multi-faceted narratives. By means of metaphorical and invisible arrows, visitors are invited to take experimental routes, navigate, move around, interact and freely engage with the environment, while at the same time becoming the choreographers of the works.
Inevitably, the situation in which we have all found ourselves has shifted the understanding of participation and presence in space. The last Event#10 of the programme will revive the special moments that punctuated the programme and debate these questions of future participation, online on 13 June 2020.
The website degree.curating.org will be launched specifically for this year’s degree show of the Postgraduate Programme in Curating. It shows the various events and projects the programme undertook in the last two years together with the MAS students: from publishing two OnCurating Issues (www.on-curating.org) to shared exhibitions, and MAS projects, to excursions, and inputs by international curators.

Contemporary Curating
Das englisch-sprachige, international agierende Postgraduate Programme in Curating (CAS/MAS) zeigt die Projekte seiner sieben Absolvent*innen in Videopräsentationen, Text und Bild. Die diesjährige Diplomshow steht ganz unter dem Zeichen des mehrteiligen und diverse Ausstellungs- und Veranstaltungsformate umfassenden Projekts Choreographing the Public, das zusammen mit dem internationalen Kurator Sergio Edelsztein ins Leben gerufen wurde.

Das kuratorische Projekt Choreographing the Public ist ein vielseitiges Programm mit Ausstellungen, Performances, Interventionen und Screenings, das von Oktober 2019 bis Juni 2020 im OnCurating Project Space und anderen kooperierenden Orten in Zürich stattfindet. Ausgehend von dieser Idee von Impuls und Bewegung, die im Ausstellungsraum stattfindet, versuchen alle Interventionen des Gesamtprojekts Choreographing the Public die Rollen der/des Künstler*s und des Publikums neu zu gestalten und neue Formen des Geschichtenerzählens zu schaffen. Ausgehend von traditionellen Erfahrungen der Kunst beleuchtet das kuratorische Projekt die Tugenden der Partizipation durch dier Erzeugung neuer und facettenreicher Narrative. Mit metaphorischen und unsichtbaren Pfeilen werden die Besucher*innen eingeladen, experimentelle Wege zu gehen, sich zu bewegen, zu interagieren und sich frei mit der Umgebung auseinanderzusetzen und gleichzeitig Choreographen der Werke zu werden.
Die Situation, in der wir uns alle befinden, hat unweigerlich das Verständnis von Partizipation und Präsenz im Weltraum verändert. Die letzte Veranstaltung des Programms wird die besonderen Momente, die das Programm unterbrochen haben, wieder aufleben lassen und diese Fragen der zukünftigen Teilnahme am 13. Juni 2020 online diskutieren.
Die Website degree.curating.org wird speziell für die diesjährige Abschlussausstellung des Postgraduiertenprogramms für Kuratoren eingerichtet. Sie zeigt die verschiedenen Veranstaltungen und Projekte, die das Programm in den letzten zwei Jahren zusammen mit den MAS-Studierenden durchgeführt hat: von der Veröffentlichung zweier OnCurating Issues (www.on-curating.org) über gemeinsame Ausstellungen und MAS-Projekte bis hin zu Exkursionen und Beiträgen internationaler Kurator*innen.
