As part of the On Curating series COMPOST, Gabriel Gee from TETI Group proposes a dinner event revisiting the TETI Press publication „Mobile Soils“ (2021), which brings together eighteen texts reflecting on the changing grounds beneath our feet. Entitled ‘Sols brouillés et remontés’, the dinner will be composed with ingredients indicated by the authors, as representative of their contributions to the volume. The contents of the book and the dinner are thus in the first stage scrambled, before being whipped together for edible purposes.

About Gabriel Gee:
Gabriel N. Gee holds a PhD in contemporary art history from the Université Paris 10 Nanterre. His doctoral research focused on aesthetics and politics in the North of England from the 1980s onwards. His book Art in the North of England. 1979-2008 was published by Ashgate (now Routledge) in 2017. He is associate Professor of Art History at Franklin University Switzerland, where he teaches contemporary art history and theory. His research interests include the arts of port cities, interconnected global histories, and contemporary artistic research (member of the Swiss Artistic Research Network). He recently edited with Caroline Wiedmer a volume on Maritime Poetics. From Coast to Hinterland (Transcript 2021). He is the initiator and co-founder of the interdisciplinary study group TETI, (Textures and Experiences of Trans-Industriality), active through workshops, exhibitions, culinary events, and through a press, which recently published Mobile Soils, a collection of essays looking at territorial transformations.

About Mobile Soils, TETI Press
Mobile Soils is a collection of essays reflecting on the mobile ground beneath our feet, questioning the soil as both material and narrative in our interconnected territories. Texts by artists, curators, historians, engineers, environmental scientists, architects, gardeners and poets peer into the bright and dark worlds of the underground, look at memories, molecules and resilience on the ground, industry, migration and spectral presences on the overground. Throughout, authors revisit their own practice confronted to present earthly attachments and ecological pressure.

Im Rahmen des Ausstellungprojekts COMPOST schlägt Gabriel Gee von der TETI Group ein Abendessen vor, bei dem die TETI Press-Publikation „Mobile Soils“ (2021), die achtzehn Texte über die sich verändernden Böden unter unseren Füßen versammelt, erneut vorgestellt wird. Das Abendessen mit dem Titel „Sols brouillés et remontés“ wird aus den von den Autoren angegebenen Zutaten bestehen, die für ihre Beiträge zu diesem Band stehen. Die Inhalte des Buches und des Abendessens werden also zunächst verrührt, bevor sie für essbare Zwecke zusammengeschlagen werden.

Über Gabriel Gee:
Gabriel N. Gee promovierte in zeitgenössischer Kunstgeschichte an der Université Paris 10 Nanterre. Seine Doktorarbeit befasste sich mit Ästhetik und Politik in Nordengland seit den 1980er Jahren. Sein Buch Art in the North of England. 1979-2008 wurde 2017 von Ashgate (jetzt Routledge) veröffentlicht. Er ist ausserordentlicher Professor für Kunstgeschichte an der Franklin University Switzerland, wo er zeitgenössische Kunstgeschichte und -theorie lehrt. Zu seinen Forschungsinteressen gehören die Kunst der Hafenstädte, vernetzte globale Geschichten und zeitgenössische künstlerische Forschung (Mitglied des Swiss Artistic Research Network). Vor kurzem hat er zusammen mit Caroline Wiedmer einen Band über Maritime Poetik herausgegeben. Von der Küste zum Hinterland (Transcript 2021). Er ist Initiator und Mitbegründer der interdisziplinären Studiengruppe TETI (Textures and Experiences of Trans-Industriality), die in Form von Workshops, Ausstellungen, kulinarischen Veranstaltungen und einem Presseverlag aktiv ist und vor kurzem Mobile Soils, eine Sammlung von Essays über territoriale Transformationen, veröffentlicht hat.

Über Mobile Soils, TETI Press
Mobile Soils ist eine Sammlung von Aufsätzen, die über den beweglichen Boden unter unseren Füßen nachdenken und den Boden als Material und Erzählung in unseren vernetzten Territorien hinterfragen. Texte von Künstlern, Kuratoren, Historikern, Ingenieuren, Umweltwissenschaftlern, Architekten, Gärtnern und Dichtern werfen einen Blick auf die hellen und dunklen Welten des Untergrunds, auf Erinnerungen, Moleküle und Widerstandsfähigkeit auf dem Boden, auf Industrie, Migration und gespenstische Präsenzen auf dem Oberboden. Die Autoren greifen auf ihre eigene Praxis zurück und konfrontieren sie mit irdischen Bindungen und ökologischem Druck der Gegenwart.
